Inside of Straylight

In February of 2016 we were drawn together by our passion for progressive music. As different as our roots are, as united is our vision for combining elements in a new and pleasent way which wasn't there before.

High demands to ourselves lead to intensive composing and abandoning of songs until our first publication "Heavy Crown" woke up the scene of Germany's capital city Berlin in January of 2018.Restless search for improvement, exorbitant attention to detail and the desire to create a unique listening experience is what drives us until today.

This journey is long from complete but you can be a part of it and see our way shape itself in front of us! Stay tuned.

Kay - Guitar

Originally, I started as a bass player in many different bands. But some time later I decided to ultimately settle to play guitar as it is just so much more fun for me personally.

Right now, I'm also involved in the songwriting process where I can really express myself through every note. I try to create a unique and atmospheric sound as well as diversified and recognizable songs.

Kay Kuras
Phil - Vocals

Originally started as a guitarist in many different Bands with Nico, I ultimately decided to persue singing as my main part involving the band.

I try to incorporare many different styles and timbres of my voice to be both interesting to listen to and trying to exceed in every level I can.
For me, the most important thing is creating a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.

Phillip
Nico - Bass

It was meant to be a small, meaningless project when I started playing in a band with Phil during our 9th grade. We didn't expect it to develop to what it is today at all.

With each step, our dedication grows and we are becoming more professional in hope to play the biggest stages around the world one day.

Nicolas Bräutigam
Georg - Drums

I started playing drums when I was fifteen years old. It was a time when I discovered punk and post-hardcore music.

Over the past years, my taste in drumming changed vastly from "never too fast and too heavy" to a preference for groove and feeling. Grooves should be extraordinary but at the same time as minimalistic as possible to stick in your ears and make you pop your fingers.I want my drums to emphasize the musical context, not overwhelm it. A song is played right if you hit the replay button to discover and enjoy every second.

Georg
Malte - Guitar

I started playing guitar when I was 15 and I made my basic experiences in different underground metal bands over the past years, which also was my biggest influence in my musical expression.

Over the years, my interest in different styles of music developed and also my focus on more individual and also recognizable guitarsolos, because good solos are able to tell you a story.

So my focus drifted into the progressive segment when it comes to heavy music because you can experience a wider emotional spectre and that's what music is about. Emotion, connection, atmosphere, creativity.
